Yesterday

Switching over from working nights is so difficult sometimes.  Just like most nights, i found myself wide awake at 0100 after working the previous night and having only slept a total of  4 hours and going to bed around 2100.  Sometimes it's difficult to find things to do at 0200 in the morning. This wasn't the case.  I was able to spend time organizing playlists on my computer that i've been meaning to do.  Then of course it was time to get ready for the annual coastal cruisers pasta bash.  Our honda element looked like a cyclists dream.  My madone broken down (wheels off) in the back along with all the helmets, waterbottles, shoes, gloves, and tirepump.  On the back, 1 mountain bike, 1 childs bike, and 1 road bike all secured.  Nothing is more exciting than heading out early in the morning knowing i'm going to ride my bike further and i'm traveling by car.

The weather was a little cool but absolutely beautiful.  A quick set up and double check of equipment and off i went pedaling away to the start of my 64 miles.  Things started off at a great pace around 20mph. Not the biggest surprise but i was the youngest by at least 15 years in the group of riders.  That doesn't mean much to thses group of riders, the've been riding for years and years and can keep up and even pass some of the younger riders half their age.  It started off as a nice group of riders around about 20 or 30.  As the day progressed, the faster riders picked up their speed enough along with the lovely wind to drop a few riders to the point that only 8 finished in the group i was in.  All in all a great ride of 3:15 with an average speed of 19.8mph.

The afternoon found us back home for cleaning up, lunch and a short trip up to sarasota for showing.  More on things to come...
